After seeing the traffic generated by what actually was a reasonable suggestion, despite my "after a long day snappy answer to stupid question"-style reply, I'm sorry I added to it. ('nuff said.) Re. Shells for DOS. There is a port of the Korn shell on Simtel mirrors in the programming utility directory (usually msdos/programming, I think) as ms_sh22?.zip. There's an executable archive and a source archive, I forget which is which. There's a real-mode version and a DOS-extended version. I can't get it to work right, but that's probably because I've never used Unix shells much (and right now the system I work on has Japanese man pages and the man page with MS_SH ain't great...). It seems to confuse the hell out of make 3.69 that comes with DJGPP, and also Morten's gmake 3.70. The DOS-extended version crashes DVX big time. Sigh. But someone who knows what they're doing can probably make it work right. Me, I'm going Linux, I think. --Steve
