Don't you think this is > WRONG? It requires am innocent user to run dtou or some such every time > he/she changes a bit of .inf file with DOS-based editor. Wouldn't it be > better, if it worked with BOTH Unix- and DOS-style text files? Wouldn't it be even better if you used a dos editor that knows how to write files without a CR before the LF? Like Paul G. Fox's ``vile'', which runs identically in Unix, Unix/X, DOS and VMS. The only ``drawback'' is that it requires you to use ``vi'' keystrokes, i. e., become efficient in your editing habits. Unfortunately, very few are willing to spend the time to use an advanced tool like this; most just want to sit down and start doing things with no learning curve. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Crigler | "Chekov, if you say, `This is a form of energy jcrigler AT iplmail DOT orl DOT mmc DOT com | like nothing I've ever seen' even one more (407)356-8650 | time, I'll blow you away with my phaser."
