Oops! As Charles Sandmann pointed out, the most likely invisibility spell is invoked by "SET GO32=2r1 ...". I had thought of this, but was interrupted in composing my message and left it out. The hypothesis about mixed-up fprintf()s should be examined AFTER looking at redirection specifications. And don't send to FSF until you've looked at the source.... (I was not thinking when I wrote the earlier msg. Mea maxima culpa.) If you *can't* live without redirection of stderr, there are public domain utilities available (mentioned on the list, I think the place mentioned to look is SimTel mirrors, .../msdos/shlutil). A better solution in my opinion is 4DOS (shareware, about US$70, SimTel mirrors .../msdos/4dos). This shell permits case by case redirection of stderr in a very flexible way, and has lots of other features. --Steve
