I do know the university frowns on mailing lists as a large community like this can have hundreds of recipients for a list; distribution by news is far more efficient and less trouble to maintain. On the native-net mailing list, Gary Trujillo was able to install both and thus offer a mailing list to those without news while also making the same messages available via alt.native where news supports this. As one who not long ago had to pay for internet access, I sympathize with those who want to limit their connect volume to the messages they want to receive, and nothing beats an NNTP news service at this. I can also appreciate that not everyone who returns from vacation to find hundreds of queued mail messages will be overjoyed. Now ... as to how this is done, I haven't the foggiest notion :-) Gary Lawrence Murphy ----------------- garym AT virtual DOT rose DOT utoronto DOT ca University of Toronto ---------- 4 Taddle Creek, Toronto, Ont M5S 1A4 Human Factors, Ind Engineering ------------ fax/voice: (416) 978-3776 ----------------------- The true destination is always just here, now
