When I set Protection level to 3 in the PIF for the DOS window I was running GS from, I get access violations from QDPMI. In particular, I needed to turn off DPMI to get certain things to work, and when I ran "QDPMI off" from that window (first thing I did after starting another DOS window, backdrop, clock and demacs), I got access violations because QDPMI tried to store into B000:00B5, B000:0054, and again into B000:0054. After that everything was fine. I get a similar violation from GO32 1.11.maint2 (the DOS extender for the DJGPP port of GNU C/C++). All GO32 programs produce two successive violations at B000:0000, then run fine. This does not occur if (a) QDPMI is not loaded or (b) QDPMI has been turned OFF. (That's not surprising but I like to be precise.) You can get my system specs from my previous (to date unacknowledged) reports. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Stephen Turnbull | | University of Tsukuba, Institute of Socio-Economic Planning | | Tennodai 1-chome 1--1, Tsukuba, Ibaraki 305 JAPAN | | Phone: +81 (298) 53-5091 Fax: +81 (298) 55-3849 | | Email: turnbull AT shako DOT sk DOT tsukuba DOT ac DOT jp | | | | Founder and CEO, Skinny Boy Associates | | Mechanism Design and Social Engineering | | REAL solutions to REAL problems of REAL people in REAL time!
