See my recent mail on automake. I don't have time to maintain the autoconf packages either. Here's my current to-do list for the DJGPP port of autoconf 2.57, with some annotations: - co??????.tmp files? There seem to be a lot of temporary files left over, after autoconf/automake has run. I think they may be generated by autom4te. Perhaps it tries to unlink files, while they are still open? (That would be bad, since it would cause filesystem corruption under DOS.) - find autom4te.cache fails with ENOENT? I can't remember where I saw this error. I don't remember seeing it for a while.
