Could someone please see if this pretest builds with DJGPP, and if
not, send patches to the maintainer?  I'm afraid I don't have time to
work on this, and Karl Berry, the maintainer, says he would like to
make the release VSN.

I've released texinfo pretest 4.2f to (gzip):

This is one more (last?) pretest to include Philippe and Jose's
Docbook/XML-related changes.  If nothing comes up, I expect to release
this as texinfo 4.3 sometime tomorrow (Thursday, US time).
