I'll copy my test program to my XP box and see if the same binary
gives different results on XP and W2K.  The results below (EA) for
return are different that the (7B) which I saw.  (My XP box is
physically disconnected from the net).

Agreed.  If this is just some random trash value which changes between
service packs/releases, we need something else.
