Very strange:

If I delete a file using del, the file is deleted (duh).
But if I delete a file using 'rm', a hidden 'deleted' directory
is created, along with 'deleted.001' (== the deleted file) and
'index' (== links files to original names) files.
This of course makes rm nearly useless.

This happens on both NTFS and FAT32 drives under WinXP, with rm
from clio.
I have Norton SystemWorks 2002 installed, but Norton Protection
is disabled for all drives, so that should not be an issue.
