This reminds me that I should think about finishing up the POSIX getdate() function I started work on, as well as fixing setenv() to be POSIX-compliant. Or was that putenv()? In any case, one of them requires that the string passed be an actual part of the environment, so that changes to the string change the environment; our implementation currently doesn't work that way.
