That might be so, and yet we are asking users to set PATH and DJGPP nonetheless. Assuming that they've survived that traumatic experience, I think we can expect them to be able to do the same for LANG and other related variables. Perhaps you should mention in the README that these variables are set in the same manner as they did for the DJGPP variable.
