We could change djtar to cnvert *.bat files to DOS EOL format as the default, but users are allowed to use other tools to unpack the distribution. So this wouldn't be a fool-proof solution. And since the manifestation of the problem is likely to get the user stumped for the rest of the day, it is best to eliminate the possibility of the problem in the first place.
