I've posted tiny patch here on 08/23. It's not fully done
in the sense that various old exe 'symlinks' like v.exe, 
dir.exe, vdir.exe, etc. do not work, but otherwise it
should be OK.

Please try rebuilding fileutils with this patch, and report
success/failure/whatever.
