Although both use the same ! signature, CygWin symlinks are variable sized, and have special attribute combination. My symlinks were compatible a year ago, but that attribute combination only helps to bloat FAQs and introduce incompatibilities. So we've switched. I've commited this patch with fixes by Martin and Eli. Thanks. Bottom line: sometimes I want to put together relevant pieces from djgpp-workers archive and write up article about symlink motivation, design, etc. But that's far fetched, and currently I cannot complain of having nothing to do.
