Pardon my libsocket-ish example, but something similar to: cvs rdiff -r lsck-0_7_4-beta-4-RELEASE -r HEAD lsck should do what you want. You can use '-D [date]' instead of '-r', although I don't know what format CVS uses for dates. You need access to the repository for this to work. I have no idea how fast it is over dial-up (56kbps) connection as I've only tried it on Ethernet.
