I finally found time to look.  Yes, almost everything is already fixed
in the latest beta of Readline.  I have one or two more changes which
I will send later (if you hear noise about releasing Readline 4.1 and
Bash 2.04, please remind me in case I forget...)  Thanks.

Yes, that's what GDB 5.0 will be shipping with.  I will send the
patches to GDB maintainers to correct those problems (again).
