I think the new malloc will break a lot of buggy programs because a lot of memory related bugs are hidded thanks to the 2^n feature of the old malloc. I found various bugs in the editor when I ported the code to Linux because the glibc malloc reuses the memory very quick and you don't have "extra space" in most of the allocated buffers like with the 2^n malloc.
