I'm more or less waiting for the kernel to let it build upon FAT, VFAT or FAT32 (if it's there it's moving, I haven't been looking too closely). UMSDOS is an extension to the MSDOS (or FAT) file system that let you have Unix attributes and symbolic links on a MSDOS file system, which is implemented by an additional file (--linux-.---) in each directory which is "umssync"-ed.
