We had this situation several times whereby nobody complained during beta-testing, then an official release triggered a flood of them. Keep in mind that people who download experimental versions do not represent the general population of users, so there are always some cases which aren't tested by them. But hey, this is only my opinion. If you feel strongly about overwriting the old gxx, go ahead. I don't let unzip overwrite old versions on my machine anyway.
