I applied the patchs to 2.7.2.1, the difference is remarkable! Some time ago I asked to DJ about making a unofitial GCC version, he said me that was OK. So I asked to some of my friends in the list and nobody helped with that. Now I got the sources of GCC 2.7.2.1 (I couldn't before because of the size of the file and the needed time and disk to install and compile it) and I applied: 1) The stabs and file extention patch. 2) The section patch. These patchs are very important and represents only a few changes in the go32.h configuation files, the advantages are: 1) With this patch will stop getting reports about: I can debug a .cpp file ... And the difference of behavior of GDB with stabs is huge! 2) The great problem about locking memory, how to make that and all the problems around it are reduced dramatically. I have the gcc, cc1 and cc1plus files patched and compiled. Can I upload it to DJ or some other must do it? Is there any test to: 1) Check the full functionallity of a new compiled GCC. 2) Test the performance And another thing: There are a problem that can confuse to the people if stabs isn't the default debug info: gcc -g3 -gstabs+ .... Selects COFF debug info level 3 and not STABS+ level 3, I was confused with that so I guess that other can get confused too.
