About Dinkumware: They still use 2002 library comparison results with gcc 2.95 as one of the contenders. So I guess the current and especially the forthcoming 4.0 release of gcc should do much better. About MS'es C++/CLI: I am a bit biased torwards the C++ syntax, especially after testing Walter Bright's "D" compiler a couple of times. But the C++/CLI guys keep telling us: "The goals used in the design of C++/CLI were as follows: Provide an elegant and uniform syntax and semantics ... " I am still sceptical, but we'll see how it works out. Thanks again. --------------------------------- "Brian Inglis" wrote in message news:ul3gu0psld338b8ti723dujdige08m3gh5 AT 4ax DOT com... > On Sat, 15 Jan 2005 03:48:07 +1100 in comp.os.msdos.djgpp, "News > Reader" wrote: > > I read in comp.std.c that MS stated that they will not be developing > their C compiler further (and presumably not updating their DinkumWare > C library, but you can buy it at www.DinkumWare.com); their efforts > will be going into C++ and .NET (so expect to see future MS versions > of C++, with anything not in the CLR dropped). > > -- > Thanks.
