It is impossible to give useful advice about such small-scale problems with only a general information about the problem. Please consider posting more details (how about just posting the two batch files?). First, why do you need 2 batch files? won't a single one do the job? Second, what does it mean ``some may use D or F''? are we talking about a special directory, like a place where some software is installed? If so, is there a method, like some enviironment variable, to know in advance where that directory is, and what is that method?
