My personal hope is that one day in the newspapers I will see "Microsoft was closed!" as the top-headline... So, back to the topic... Since a number of programs are written on DOS (even some M$ programs, and probably the most useful ones), it will stay alive as long as M$ removes the command-line from the system, or copies some other OS's command-line; unless M$ wants to rewrite some of their useful programs, which I doubt.
