Sure, it's there, but many users (myself included) prefer using a 
windowed shell session, since that lets you see other applications and do 
several things in parallel.  For example, I usually have at least an 
Emacs session running at all times, and do most of my work insode Emacs, 
so I want to see its display even when I'm typing shell commands.
