If you don't take precautions between OS's, you can have trouble with
end of line formats, and VMS has a number of file formats that can make
this study a science in itself.  Linux to PC/DOS can be a challenge if
you are not prepared.

I am getting familiar with the DJGPP utilities to handle these
situations.
