I had a look at the Fileutils code and it called a libc function of
the same name and is always returns and errro. The following is the
info on mkfifo from the libc docs:-

File: libc.info,  Node: mkfifo,  Next: mknod,  Prev: mkdir,  Up:

This function is provided only to assist in porting from Unix.  It
always returns an error condition.
