What used to be 386MAX release 8 (or MAX8 or whatever) provided a DPMI 1.0 server, if you want to try to find an old copy someplace. So an excellent server exists, but so few people bought it you can't find it anymore... But that's only an option for DOS. The majority of DJGPP users now run with an alternate OS that doesn't allow replacement of the DPMI provider (such as Windows).
