It gives me great pleasure to announce release 3 of the DJGPP port of Fileutils 4.0. This release is a minor bugfix release. This will be the last release of Fileutils 4.0 for DJGPP, unless there are any major bugs found. I will focus on porting Fileutils 4.1 now. Here are the changes over release 2: - A pointer was added to Laurynas Biveinis's patch for the sources to make configure.in compatible with Autoconf 2.50. This patch was not included in the port, because it breaks compatibility with Autoconf 2.13. - Some patches by Paul Eggert were applied to fix a bug where 'ls' displays a large bogus file size for files > 2GB. To use the Fileutils programs, you only need to download the binary distribution. You may also want to download the documentation distribution, to get the documentation in HTML, PostScript and DVI formats. If you want to examine or rebuild the Fileutils sources, you need to download the source distribution. The Fileutils port is available here: http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/fil40b.zip&name=fil40b.zip http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/fil40d.zip&name=fil40d.zip http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/fil40s.zip&name=fil40s.zip Please read the file gnu/filutil4.0/djgpp/readme.dos in whichever distribution you download. This contains important instructions on installing and using Fileutils. A lot of credit for this port must go to Eli Zaretskii, since he provided me with patches that actually did much of the port for me, and also for his advice. Thanks also to Jim Meyering, Tim Van Holder, Jason Green, Laurynas Biveinis and Paul Eggert for their help. Thanks also to the djgpp-workers. If you encounter any problems with this port, please feel free to contact me by e-mail (address below). I also try to read the DJGPP newsgroup, comp.os.msdos.djgpp, on a regular basis. Thanks, bye, -- Richard Dawe http://www.phekda.freeserve.co.uk/richdawe/
