It's not exceptional and not specific of GCC - read

- the reason of that is unclear to me... Is it so complicated to make
a full ISO C++ compiler ?

Anyway, if you want to toy with advanced features like namespaces, templates or
exceptions "out of the textbook" and be sure it works, use "fresher" designs
e.g. by downloading the GNAT compiler (also a DJGPP flavour)...
