Sure, and it does, if correctly configured! ;-)

You forgot to set PATH environment variable or didn't 
set it correctly. 

You can see if PATH contains the right directory where 
gcc is by typing "set" in a dos box. 

You can also type "set > env.txt" and post here file 
env.txt, together with your autoexec.bat, so that we 
can have a look and see what's wrong...
