I'm not sure your conclusion is valid.  Did you try to build dlxgen with 
the latest DJGPP library, and then switch to previous DJGPP version when 
creating DLX's?  Or the other way around?

You see, the DJGPP distribution (djdevNNN.zip) is more than just the
library.  It changes other crucial components of the development 
environment, such as the specs file and the linker script.  It's possible 
(quite probable, actually) that your problem is with one of these, not
with the library.

A mistake, IMHO.  DJGPP v2.02 had several grave bugs in the library that 
far outweigh the problems you mention.
