To dump parts of object/executable files.  You can disassemble parts of it,
find the instruction that crashed given its EIP (from the crash traceback),
list debug info (e.g., to see why GDB doesn't know something about certain
variables), etc.

There isn't any.  The array of possible usage types is too large.

Why is this question interesting?

It's personal.  For example, I almost always use "ls -lgrt" instead.
