Parse errors?????  From using the standard C notation for expressing a
hexadecimal number?!?!?!?!

Well, if the compiler is giving you errors for using that, which no C compiler
ever has for me, then I give up.  I tried to help, I am 100% sure I'm right
(hmmm... yeah, guess I'm a know it all), and don't know what else to tell you.
