From the error messages you show, you must have downloaded 'RHIDE' as
well. OTOH, you do not mention having downloaded binutils, which is
also needed for a working compilation.

This is the style of error message as reported inside RHIDE. Please
try running gcc directly from the commandline, and show us the errors
you get from that:

	redir -eo gcc -v testfile.c -Wall -O > output.txt

Then inspect and/or show us 'output.txt', and also 'testfile.c'
