But is posible. Yes I too have to still see a driver which has this feature. Isn't it strange that AFAIK no video card company has written a driver with this capability. Is it because there are problems for the hardware driver to acess VESA due to a windoze related "feature" or is it that the video card companies are just not interested in adding this functionality? > Somebody in this thread said NT runs in any hardware and Linux don't, well, in my > experience hardware drivers for Linux are usually much more stable, so you don't > have this silly hardware dependence found in Windows. What makes matters worse IMHO is that certain hardware has a software dependency. For example there are certain modems (winmodems), printers which need windoze to run. > > Not anymore, see how many users are using Linux. I agree but please note that the number is increasing quite rapidly. And IMHO Linux is seriously challenging M$'s OS dominance. > > Please don't take me wrong (see the headers of this mail and look what OS I'm No problem, It's great to listen to peoples views :-) > using right now, also see what programs I contributed to djgpp). I am not frantic and I haven't lost my focus either. I was merely stating facts which I think are true enough. And I welcome criticism of my views by anyone as you learn something new every day.
