That's not multitasking, really. It's multithreading, i.e. more than one thread of execution inside *one* task. 'Task' is what the operating system (DOS, for DJGPP programs) runs. On top of that, the DJGPP libc is not really prepared for multithreading, itself, i.e. you should not expect to be able to use it from concurrent threads of execution.
