but for GNU time, it should be trivial(tm) to replace the fork ()
by spawn ().  Since all what the code do is

gettimeofday (); fork (); waitpid (); getimeofday (); print_statistics();

so :
gettimeofday (); spawn (); getimeofday (); print_statistics();

And no I did not volounteer ;-)
