Thanks to Eli, this problem is now solved.  gcc was picking up the
stdio.h include file that comes with RSXNTDJ (I've no idea why it
causes this load problem).  When I renamed the stdio.h in RSXNTDJ, gcc
picked up the correct header file and all was well.
