EGCS has been undergoing much more rapid development.  Its C++ support
is said to be much better, several bugs are fixed, optimization is
better, etc.

It may be less stable, though.  (Less in-house testing, though more
external testing.)

Personally, I use EGCS for almost everything under Linux, and haven't
had any problems.
