Well, here is a part of my config.sys:
SWITCHES= /F
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICEHIGH=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
FILESHIGH=40
FCBSHIGH=40,0
DOS=HIGH, UMB

---> shell=C:\COMMAND.COM C:\ /e:2048 /p
This line extends the environment space to 2048 bytes
