Easy, discuss everything about Pointers and DPMI. (eg how to access VGA memory

By the way, how DO you do that? I'd like to make portable code, but well, 
DOSmemput probably isn't protable :-). I've just got myself Linux, which is 
EXTREMELY nice, but DOSmemput doesn't work in that, of course.

Pointers really bother newbies (I can know it, I'm a newbie myself!).
Pointers should be discussed in general, like what the difference is between:

var2 = &var1
*pointer = value
pointer = value

Etc.
This, I know, but newbies really don't.
