I have another question to ask: When I enter a command that takes more than a certain number of characters (I think its around 120 or so) it does not get executed properly and make stops running. The use of '\' extending the command to the next line in the Makefile does not help. I suspect it has something to do with maximum allowable length of line in DOS. Is there a way around it? Or, if my executable is dependent on this many object files, should I start building libraries instead? thanks' Richard
