The latest version of the FAQ is 2.11 (v2/faq211b.zip from any DJGPP 
site); it is dated 13 September 1998 (the version and the date appear at 
the beginning of the FAQ, just before the Table of Contents).  Section 
6.11 in this last version is named "Why does Bash crash?".  So it seems 
you indeed have an old version.
