WinAllegro works "best" under VisualC++, since that's what it was originally
designed to work around. Using it under RSXNTDJ requires a bit of tweaking
to your code, and you can't compile C++ programs with it.

When I tried CygWin a couple of months ago, I found it a _real_ pain to use.
There was also very limited documentation available. Having visited the site
again recently, it looks like things may have changed. I still don't know
anyone who has written a WinAllegro program under CygWin though.

The WinAllegro/RSXNTDJ combination is quite well supported, thanks to George
Foot. RSXNTDJ does have the problem of not being able to compile C++ all
that well, which limits its functionality with the Windows API. But if
you're using WinAllegro, you're probably not going to use the API for much.
