I have not actually used any sockets libraries from pure DOS, 
but they do exist.  DJ Delorie ported the Lynx web browser to 
DOS using the Waterloo TCP stack -- unfortunately I can't find 
it on Simtelnet at the moment, sorry.

you'll find links to many djgpp-related packages, including 
the Waterloo TCP/IP stack and another (which I also haven't 
investigated fully) -- Karn's KA9Q NOS TCP/IP.

Ove Kaaven started developping an IP layer to work on top of
packet drivers some time ago but I don't think he had time to
get TCP working.  Aparently UDP works, but I didn't have the
opportunity to test it.  If you like I can try to dig out a 
link to it, or you could contact him yourself --
