At first, I missed finding the topic in binutils.inf, probably due to clumsiness using info.exe. FAQ section 5.2 seemed appropriate, so I downloaded the source archive and successfully used makeinfo to build the (same!) inf file. I think I'll forego info.exe and stick with my favorite text viewer. Thanks for the 'groff' command line.
