I suggest you to download newer SWORD 2.50 (or SWORD 3.0beta04 but it doesn't support graphics gadgets under DJGPP yet). There is another windowing library called MGUI which is written on C and has C++ API wrapping. MGUI has no free sources. (Try to search in archives for Morello MGUI to find its URL).
