Message-Id: <199710302330.SAA16446@delorie.com> Date: Thu, 30 Oct 1997 13:16:56 +0200 (IST) From: Eli Zaretskii To: djgpp-announce AT delorie DOT com Subject: ANNOUNCE: Patched Emacs 19.34 uploaded MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Precedence: bulk Precedence: bulk I have uploaded a patched release of Emacs 19.34 compiled with DJGPP: ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/emacs.README ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/em1934*.zip This is primarily a bug release; as far as I can remember, no significant new features were added. In particular, the crashes on NT and when 22 environment variables are defined should now be gone. This is the last upload of Emacs 19 (unless somebody reports a grave bug that requires immediate solution). I have switched to Emacs 20 two months ago and I don't use or maintain Emacs 19 anymore. But it will take time until I upload a binary release of v20, since IMHO it still has too many known bugs and untested features; it is also significantly slower than Emacs 19, for now. So if you use Emacs, you should probably either download this release or get the GNU distribution of Emacs 20.2 (the latest version) and compile it on your machine; it builds right out of the box. Please read the file emacs.README *before* you begin to download the package. Note that the way files are divided between the zip files has changed since the last release (due to changes in files' sizes), so don't be tempted to download, say, only em1934b.zip or em1934r1.zip alone. As usual, please post any problems you might have to comp.os.msdos.djgpp news group first, especially if they seem like DOS- or DJGPP-specific.
