Post the error message and the offending code fragment (it's best to
post a complete but short function that triggers that message, so
people could recompile it) and you will have the explanation in reply.

Download the DJGPP FAQ list (v2/faq210b.zip from the same place you
get DJGPP) and read section 9.2 there.  It explains this.

The answer depends on what do you need to use that pointer for.  The
problem is usually not to get the pointer but to use it, since calling
real-mode code from a protected-mode program is a bit tricky.  Try
reading section 17.6 in the FAQ, for starters.
