I think you must be using quite an old version of Allegro (v2.1 or
earlier). The latest proper release is 2.2, which can be found on the
SimTel sites, or if you want to be up to date with the very latest
developments you can get an unofficial version of what will eventually
become 3.0 from my web pages (see my .sig).

Where did you get your copy of the lib? If it was somewhere on the web,
the site is out of date and should be corrected...
